Results are in: Hornets boys’ win Selma High Invitational

Following Thursday’s Selma High School Invitational track and field meet, each team had a general idea of how they had fared, but the release of the official results Friday ended all of the guessing.

Dallas County’s boys finished first in the team standings with a total of 133.5 points.

Jeff Davis’ boys finished second, followed by Demopolis, St. Jude, Selma, Isabella, Keith and Martin Middle School.

The Hornets’ girls also placed well, finishing second in the eight-team meet.Jeff Davis finished first in the girls’ overall  with a total of 138 points, followed by Dallas County who finished with 122 points.

Demopolis finished third, followed by Selma, St. Jude, Isabella, Keith and Martin Middle School.

Dallas County’s boys dominated in the track events.

The Hornets’ boys won the 4 x 800 meter relay, Quintavis Parker won the 110-meter hurdles and Xavier Knight won the 300-meter hurdles. The Hornets girls’ shined in the field events, with Kandyce Hardison and Shay Spradley finishing first and second in the discus throw.  Spradley also won the 100-meter hurdles for the Hornets.

The Hornets’ boys also won the Montgomery Academy Invitational in March.
