The deadline for paying city and county property taxes is quickly approaching.
Selma City Tax Collector Kim Lewis said residents should pay their city property taxes by April 18. Dallas County Tax Collector Tammy King said the deadline to pay county property taxes is April 1. If these dates are not met, the property will be advertised in The Selma Times-Journal.
The absolute deadline for the city and county property taxes is May 16 at 10 a.m.
“Unfortunately, you know, if they do not come here and pay it on May 16 at 10 o’clock, then property will be auctioned off at the tax sale,” King said.
Residents have various options for how they can pay property taxes.
Lewis said residents could pay city taxes by phone at 874-2112, mail it to 222 Broad Street PO Box 450, Selma, AL 36702 or pay it at Selma City Hall.
Credit cards, money orders, cashier’s checks and cash are all payment options for city property taxes.
King said county property taxes could be paid by mail at P.O. Box 987, Selma, AL 36702, in person at the Dallas County Courthouse, via phone at 866-538-6713 or online at www.dallascountyproperty-tags.com.
Credit cards, money orders, cash or certified checks are all payment options for county property taxes.
The hours of operation for the both Dallas County Courthouse and the Selma City Hall is Monday through Friday from 8:30 to 4:30 p.m.
