Months after an additional car rental business arrived in Selma, its owner declares the business a success in Selma.

U-Can-Rent, a car rental services located on Kimble Road, has been getting excellent business since it opened in the Selma in November, according to business owner and Selma native Douglas Gaston. He said they have all their cars sell out by the end of the week, and he constantly has to restock cars.

“It’s the fact that we are so easy,” Gaston said when explaining the reason behind the company’s popularity. “We are customer friendly.”

Gaston said he established business in Selma, because he knew that there was a strong need for an additional car rental service in the area. He said he was eager to provide business in his hometown.

“I just thought Selma would be a good market,” Gaston said. “There was a need for another car rental place.”

Rosetta Bowen, one of the U-Can-Rent’s first customers, said great customer service and fantastic deals deserve her loyal business.

“When I first came in and found that it was someone new here other than Enterprise, I was just ecstatic,“ Bowen said. “They were really nice to me. They made me feel like they valued my business.”

The business’ success is evident. It started with 15 cars Friday morning and was able to rent out 14 of them.

Gaston said the great service is a result of the exclusive offers and great selection of cars. Customers can rent Hummers, Escalades, Range Rovers, Camaros, Challengers, Hemi chargers, BMWs and more with no credit check or credit card. The prices change daily, but on Feb. 7 a BMW could be rented for $119 per day.

“This is stuff you can’t rent in Montgomery or Birmingham,” Gaston said.
