Historic Brown Chapel A.M.E. Church invites the community to their Martin Luther King Jr. Service of Remembrance on Sunday, Jan. 12 at 3 p.m. The theme of the event is “Keeping Alive the Spirit of 1965.”

Special guest speaker will be Rev. Trevor Wooldridge, who is currently serving as the pastor of Historic Ward Chapel A.M.E. Church in Prattville. He was appointed to this pastoral charge Dec. 6. Wooldridge has come with a vision of growth and commitment to Almighty God. He preaches with power and conviction and proclaims, “…it’s not about me and it’s not about you, but it’s all about God.” The church is celebrating the Spirit of those persons who struggled, sacrificed and gave so much for the cause of voting rights in 1965.

In that vein, the church is looking at ways to uplift those in the community who are forging away at the dream of doing the right thing by serving and working with our youth. Teachers, who make a difference in the lives of young people in the community, will also be honored.
