The Keith Lady Bears (11-6) took an early 25-3 lead in the first quarter and never looked back in a 60-21 victory over Ellwood Christian (0-15).
Zykia Pettway led the Bears with 17 points and Harriet Winchester added 15 points.
“We tried to work on our man-to-man defense and at the same time work on experience,” Keith head coach Cecil Williams said.
The Bears, who have aspirations of another deep postseason run, used Wednesday night’s game to help build some depth.
“You want to have everybody with some experience ready to get in and help the team out,” Williams said. “Games like this give us a good opportunity to get practice with the other girls so they can get some experience.”
Keith led 38-17 at halftime but put the Eagles completely away in the third quarter. Keith outscored the Eagles 15-1 in the third.
The Bears were able to get all of their players in the game. On the other side, the Eagles are still trying to find their first win of the season.
“We are going to get better but you have to work at getting better,” Ellwood Christian head coach James Spears said.
Spears said his players need to show more of a commitment to practices.
“All they want to do is come out and play the game,” Spears said. “It doesn’t work like that.”
Ebony Simpson led Ellwood Christian with 10 points.Kristin Lamar also scored six points for the Eagles and MaKayla Berry added five.
