City making transition to new website

Loading errors and distinctly different designs may greet visitors to the Selma’s city government website.
The old layout features a collage of pictures at the top, with a list of departments on the left. The other has a blue toolbar, with a list of options, at the top, and four sections at the bottom for announcements and other items.
Mayor George Evans said the changes are due to an internal change of who administers the website within city government.
As a result of the change, many pages will redirect to the previous layout and other pages fail to load.
Though he was unsure of a completion date, Evans said the site would function normally once the transition is finished.
“All of the pertinent information in terms of budget items, minutes and things like that will still function normally,” Evans said. “It’s important to be able to list all of those things on the website for people that live out of town to just know what’s going on in city government.”
The city’s website lists contact numbers for each department, ordinances and financial reports. Evans said the contents of the website could increase depending on suggestions from the heads of each department.
“I’m going to get some input from our department heads,” he said. “We may include more things from each department as far as what they do, programs in the department and anything we do within the city.”
