Herschel L. “Bit” Harris

Herschel L. “Bit” Harris died peacefully in his sleep at his home in Pensacola on December 12, of natural causes. He was born in 1926 in Selma, Alabama, and was preceded in death by his parents and his three siblings, as well as his son, Terry Harris. He is survived by his devoted wife of 68 years, Geneva C. Harris, and sons Jerry (Patricia) Harris of Orlando, Marvin (Jan) Harris of Gastonia, SC, Tommy Harris of Pensacola, Donald (Donna) Harris of Indianapolis, IN, and David (Trish) Harris of Pensacola. He is also survived by 11 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren, whom he enjoyed immensely. He was a WWII veteran of the US Navy, and a life-long used car dealer and auto salesman in Selma and in Pensacola, where he lived for the past 43 years. Services for Mr. Harris were held on Monday, December 16 in Pensacola. The family requests memorial contributions be made to Alzheimer’s Family Services.
