Marguerite Eleanor Gaut

Marguerite Eleanor Gaut of Selma, AL passed away October 2, 2013.
“Eleanor” was born in Liberty, MS on February 25, 1923. She graduated from the University of Alabama with a degree on Home Economics and thereafter taught that subject at A.G. Parrish High School. After raising her three children, she went back to school and renewed her teaching certificate in Early Childhood Education. Subsequently, she taught at Southside Elementary until her retirement in 1986. She was an active member of the First Presbyterian Church in Selma for many years.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Cornelius Lucky “C.L.” Gaut, Jr., sisters, Pauline Jones and Zilla Jones Robertson, daughter, Connie Gaut Webb and granddaughter, Mary Lockridge.
She is survived by her sister Katherine Jones Hollis of Monroe, LA, son, James (Shirley) Gaut of Prattville, AL, daughter Marguerite (William) Lockridge of Mint Hill, NC; grandchildren Anna (Jerrod) Headley, Patrick (Amber) Gaut, constance Lockridge, Prker (Cammy) Lockridge and Alex (carrie) Webb; great-grandchildren Sara Ann and Elijah Headley, Willow Faith Lockridge and River Gaut.
Funeral services will be graveside at Live Oak Cemetery, Saturday, October 5, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. M Sidney McCollum, preacher at first Presbyterian Church officiating and Lawrence Brown-Service funeral Home directing.
In lieu of flowers the family request memorial donations be made to the first Presbyterian church, Selma, AL.
