Juanita Derryberry Mallow

Juanita Derryberry Mallow, 97, passed away on September 24, 2013 at Vaughan Regional Medical Center, Selma, Alabama.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, Edwin Earl Mallow; sisters, Barbara D. (Jeff) Rose and Florence D. (Paul) Oppy; brother, Lt. Sherod D. Derryberry, Jr.; son-in-law, Major Clyde W. Enderle and granddaughter, Mary E. Enderle.
Mrs. Mallow was born in Selma, Alabama on June 30, 1916, the daughter of Florence T. and Sherod D. Derryberry. She attended Selma public schools, graduating from Selma High School in 1934 and City Central Business School.
Juanita was an active member of First Baptist Church all of her life, where she was a faithful member of the Servitude Sunday School Class and taught Sunday School to three and four year old children a number of years. She was also a member of the group of ladies who helped serve Wednesday night supper in McCrummen Hall.
Mrs. Mallow worked at Buckeye Cotton Oil Company, retiring from R.L. Zeigler Packing Company in 1982. She volunteered with the Pink Ladies at the local hospital for 24 years, and also volunteered for Meals on Wheels for ten years.
Juanita is survived by her daughter, Lynn Enderle Vaughn of Pickerington, OH; son, the Rev. Doctor Sherod Earl (Rosa) Mallow of Ft. Lauderdale, FL; brother, Ralph K. (Eleanor) Derryberry of Selma, AL; grandchildren, Theresa L. Willoughby, LTC (retired), Kimberly A. Enderle, Barbara L. Vaughn, Charles S. (Penny) Mallow, Martha E. Muller and Luz Maria Mallow; eight great grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services will be held at First Baptist Church, on Lauderdale Street, Saturday September 28, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. Burial will follow in Pineview Memory Gardens, Valley Grande, Alabama with Dr. Jerry Light officiating and Selma Funeral Home directing. Visitation will be held prior to the service at 1:00 p.m. at the church. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations be made to the First Baptist Church Renovation Fund, P. O. Box 1186 Selma, Al 36702.
