Agricultural producers and other individuals that have pesticides needing to be disposed of will have an opportunity to get rid of those supplies in an environmentally friendly manner.
The Alabama Department of Agriculture and Industries and the Alabama Cooperative Extension System are hosting an Agricultural Pesticide Clean Day in Chilton County Thursday, Aug. 29.
This event will allow agricultural and forestry producers to take their unwanted pesticides (herbicides, insecticides, fungicides, rodenticides, etc.) that have lost registration or are otherwise not needed or not useable to a collection site for proper disposal. There is no charge for the disposal and no questions will be asked about the material.
Those from Dallas County are welcome to participate in the event going on in Chilton County, but the deadline to register is Wednesday, Aug. 21. Those who register will be notified of the location upon signing up.
Contact the Dallas County Extension Office at (334) 875-3200 to request a copy of the required form for registration. Forms must be filled out and returned to the extension office. Forms can be scanned and emailed to Rudy Yates at yatesrp@aces.edu or faxed to him at (334) 295-5137.
The Extension office said funds for this initiative are limited so registration forms will considered on a first-come, first-serve basis.
This program is made possible by the Alabama Department of Agriculture and Industries and the Alabama Cooperative Extension System.
