Selma, Dallas County need strong leader for tourism

What Selma lacks in large shopping malls and restaurants it makes up for in its rich history. Tourism, above all, is one of our greatest strengths.
With historic homes around every corner and a downtown overflowing with history, we need to take advantage of our built-in advantage — tourism.
Thankfully, the Selma-Dallas Chamber of Commerce has found someone to lead our city and county in the tourism department. Ashley Mason, who recently assumed the role of tourism director for the area, brings a set of fresh eyes and ideas to Selma and Dallas County. Mason expressed interest in promoting the area in a younger, more relevant fashion by using social media and other outlets to draw people to Selma.
It is our hope that Mason realizes the great potential Selma has to entice visitors from around the region, and she implements all of her skills to do so.
Selma is more than just voting rights, it’s a great place to live and raise a family.
We encourage Mason, and the rest of Dallas County’s residents, to promote this great image of our Black Belt city.
