The bake sale, which will be held Saturday, July 20 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. inside the Selma Mall, will feature baked goods, a cakewalk, arts and crafts and face painting.

Sharon Krause, assistant manager at Selma Mall, said the event will be fun for the whole family, but it will only be possible if they receive enough applications from the community.

“We just want to try to get the community back to Selma Mall, and do something good for the churches and other organizations in Selma that want to have fundraisers. It’s something fun to do during the summer,” Krause said. “[The mall is] only going to be able to have it if there are enough people who want to participate.”

Krause said she has received interest in hosting bake sales in the past, and now the mall is providing a large-scale opportunity for anyone interested.

“I’ve had a lot of people tell me they want to sell their baked goods here and they just haven’t had an [opportunity] until now,” Krause said. “[The bake sale] should just show people the mall is still a fun place that has new things happening.”

The bake sale will be free to participate and attend. Krause said the mall only asks that those selling goods bring their own tables, chairs and two or three extra baked goods to contribute to the cakewalk. She also encouraged the community to take part in the event.

“[The event] will have allow people to make money for their organization while staying cool in the mall. We just want to invite anybody and everybody to participate,” she said.
