The Times-Journal announced Monday the addition of Daniel Evans to the newspaper’s editorial staff.
Evans, who is a native of West Blocton in Bibb County, is a December graduate of the University of Alabama-Birmingham, where he earned his degree in journalism.
“I’m excited to join the great team at The Selma Times-Journal,” Evans said. “The newspaper already has a tremendous staff in place, and I’m hoping to make it even stronger.”
Evans, who will work as a staff writer, will primarily focus on sports in the Selma and Dallas County area.
“I have always wanted to write sports. Selma offers a large variety of sports to cover and I’m excited to get started covering all the local events and teams,” Evans said.
Evans joins the Times-Journal’s newsroom consisting of reporters Sarah Cook, Ashley Johnson and Katie Wood as well as summer interns Sarah Mahan and Roderick Mitchell.
“Daniel is a great addition to our newsroom team and someone I’m excited to join the Selma community,” Times-Journal editor Tim Reeves said. “Throughout the interview and recruitment process, I have had the chance to get to know Daniel and expect the community will really embrace him, as they have done others on our team.”
For those wanting to contact Evans, they can do so by calling his direct line at 410-1736 or emailing him at daniel.evans@selmatimesjournal.com.
