Little Friends: Rained out but rescheduled

Although their original fish fry was rained out, Little Friends School is looking forward to a bigger, and better fish fry, which will be held Thursday, April 18 outside the school.
Gina Fuller, director of Little Friends School, said the fish fry has been an ongoing tradition of 10 years. All proceeds go to benefit the school, located at 210 Lauderdale St.
“Everybody in Selma talks about the fish,” Fuller said. “We do [the fundraiser] to raise money for classroom materials and to update playground equipment and other items that are needed around the school.”
Last year, Fuller said the school and their chefs fixed more than 700 plates full of harvest select catfish from Uniontown.
In addition to the catfish, residents also receive a side of coleslaw provided by KFC.
“We have several parents who have children that have graduated from Little Friends but still come out to help with the fish fry,” Fuller said. “They do an awesome job.”
Little Friends School operates in conjunction with St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, located across the street from the school. Fuller said parents and church members look forward to the fish fry every year, as “it’s always a hit.”
“We’ll be out front of the school so people can just drive by and pick up the fish,” Fuller said. “It makes for a great family meal.”
Tickets, which cost $8.50, can still be purchased by calling 875-1354 or 874-8421.
“It’s a great fundraiser for a good cause,” Fuller said. “Where else can you go and get a fabulous fish dinner for $8.50 while also helping to support a local school?”
