A Valley Grande couple was killed in a Friday afternoon accident on Alabama Highway 14, about 25 miles west of Prattville.

According to a report from the Alabama State Troopers, Thomas Anthony Lovoy, 75, of Valley Grande was traveling west when the 2008 Chevrolet Malibu he was driving collided with an eastbound 1994 Freightliner driven by Clinton Hope, 35, of Selma.

Lovoy was transported to Baptist Medical Center South in Montgomery, where he later died from his injuries.

One of the passengers in the Malibu, Lovoy’s wife, Betty Diamond Lovoy, 63, was pronounced dead at the scene.

A 16-year-old passenger in Lovoy’s vehicle was injured in the crash and was transported to Baptist South for treatment.

Hope, the driver of the Freightliner, was not injured.

Troopers said there are continuing to investigate the crash.
