James Marvin Cobb

James Marvin Cobb, a native of Paul, AL and longtime resident of Selma, AL died Saturday September 15th, 2012 surrounded by family at Thomas Hospital in Fairhope AL.

Mr. Cobb was loving, caring and devoted husband, father, grandfather and brother who will be missed by many.

Born August 23rd 1934 and raised in Paul AL. Mr. Cobb moved his family to Selma in 1971 to begin working at Hammermill Paper Co. Which became International Paper, he retired in 1996. While in Selma he was an avid deer hunter and proudly held the title of Vice President of the Riverdale Hunting Club for many years.

He was a devoted husband of 58 years to Edna “Faye” Pate Cobb. He is also survived by two daughters: Sheila (Ernest) McCraney and Brenda (Sean) Knights, Four Granddaughters: Brittany McCraney Moody, Ashton Nicole McCraney, Leslie Ammons Osterday and Lendsy Peyton Ammons; 3 step grandchildren Donaven, Mackenzie and Christian Knights and 6 great grandchildren. He is also survived by two sisters Doris Thomason and Nell Cobb and a host of nieces and nephews.

He is proceeded in death by two sons James Bryon Cobb, James Gregory Cobb and recently by his brother (and lifelong best friend) Harvey Gordon Cobb.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday Sept 19th at Cope Funeral Home in Evergreen AL beginning at 1:00 pm with the funeral following at 2:00pm with a burial followed at Pleasant Grove Primitive Baptist Church in Paul Al.
