This Labor Day weekend more then 33 million Americans will take to the roads and airport runways to travel, but for those that are enjoying a stay-cation in Selma, need to keep all of the Labor Day closings and special holiday trash schedule in mind.

According to the Selma City Public Works Department, the trash schedule will be altered in order to give city employees Monday off. Garbage normally scheduled to be picked up on Monday, will be picked up on Tuesday. Those who normally get trash picked up on Tuesdays, should put their garbage out on Wednesday, Sept. 5 instead. Wednesday trash routes will be picked up on Thursday of this week and so on. On Monday, Sept. 10, trash pickup will return to the normal schedule. But for the week following Labor Day, all trash will be moved back by one day.

All banks in Selma are scheduled to be closed on Labor Day. The post office will be closed as well.

Other closings to consider are all Dallas County offices; offices located inside of the courthouse and all Selma city offices. Those who need to pay tickets, register for licenses or license tags, pay fines or mail letters should do so before or after the holiday weekend.

Selma City Schools, Dallas County Schools, as well as all private schools, will be closed for the holiday.
