Riverfront ceremony scheduled

Cleaning up the riverfront area has been a big push for the current city administration. Mayor George Evans has pushed for renovations and beautification of Water Avenue throughout his term, claiming that it will be the ticket to bringing in tourism dollars and even courting potential industry to arrive at our city’s door.

On Thursday, the city will break ground in a ceremony for the Selma Riverfront Amphitheater at 4 p.m.

This ground breaking comes after a ribbon cutting ceremony last month at the Riverfront Reception Hall and police substation, located in the same area on Water Avenue. The ceremony will be hosted by the mayor and the Selma City Council.
