Black Belt baseball players showcase talent at nat’l camp

The youths from Alabama’s Black Belt recently got a chance to showcase their talents on a national stage.
Selma native Alex Inge and Wilcox Academy players Wesley Brand and Ethan Daniels recently attended the Pro Day Baseball North, South, East, West National Showcase at the former U.S. Olympic Baseball Training Center in Millington, Tenn.
The players were evaluated by college coaches and professional scouts, who coached the teams during the four-day event, with players represented from 12 states, Puerto Rico and Japan.
Top high school baseball players in classes 2011-2015 across the United States competed in four-games and went through a professional workout while being evaluated by college coaches and professional scouts.
Inge will be a senior at Selma High School starting this season and plays in the outfield.
Hitting wise, Inge went 7 for 11 at the plate in four games for the West Team.
Both Brand and Daniels of Camden will be seniors at Wilcox Academy.
Brand pitched and played in the outfield for on the West team.
Daniels pitched and played first base for the East squad among the nation’s top baseball prospects.
