ORRVILLE — Authorities are reporting an Orrville woman was reportedly struck down and beaten with a lead pipe on Wednesday at around 3 a.m. by her boyfriend, who the Dallas County Sheriff’s Department says is still at large.
Prior to this incident, and earlier in the night, Roger O’Neal Smith, 29, from Uniontown, who is also known as “Lil-Man,” was arguing with his girlfriend at her Orrville home and she ordered him to leave.
Sgt. Mike Granthum with the Dallas County Sheriff’s Department said at around 3 a.m. Smith reportedly called her saying he was out of gas on Dallas County Road 182 in Orrville, and needed her to come and pick him up.
The victim was scared knowing his past, Granthum said, so she got her cousin to come with her to meet Smith.
“As soon as she gets out of the car [Smith] starts beating her with his fist,” Granthum said. “So he gets a lead pipe and starts beating her, then chokes her until she loses consciousness. He finally stops and the cousin takes her to the emergency room with multiple wounds and lacerations.”
Granthum said the victim is expected to recover. She was reportedly treated Wednesday and released.
“He is wanted for domestic violence assault second degree and if anybody knows [Smith’s] whereabouts call 1-866-44-CRIME,” Granthum said. “Due to his previous history, we do not know if he is armed, but we believe him to be dangerous.”
Smith has previously been arrested for multiple assault and drug charges.
Granthum said that once arrested, Smith will be charged and held in the Dallas County Jail under a $250,000 bond.
