Carolyn Virginia “Ginger” Weissinger Wilson, 64, a lifelong resident of Browns, Alabama, passed away peacefully at her home on Sunday morning, August 5, 2012. Ginger was baptized and raised in the Orrville Baptist Church. She attended Orrville High School through the eleventh grade and graduated from Parrish High School in 1966. Ginger was a member of Chi Omega Sorority while attending Auburn University. She graduated from Livingston University with a B.S. in Mathematics Education. For many years, she taught math at Morgan Academy and always enjoyed the friendship of her former students. After her teaching career, she devoted herself full-time to caring for her family and restoring her family home that has been enjoyed by her family for 7 generations. Her love of cooking was often shared with family and friends. Ginger was a member of Safford Baptist Church, the Selma Garden Club, Master Gardeners, and a sustaining member of the Selma Charity League.
Ginger was preceded in death by her parents, Dr. & Mrs. William Wood Weissinger , her mother and father-in-law, Mr. & Mrs. Dean S. Wilson, Sr. , and an infant son.
She is survived by her husband, Dean S. (Butch) Wilson, Jr.; her daughter, Dea Powe (Willard), her son Travis Wilson (Keisha); her grandchildren, Trey Powe, Carrie Lea Powe, Trevor Wilson, and Cole Wilson all from Browns; her sister, Fran Pearce (David) of Browns; her brother, David Weissinger of Paris, Tx,; brothers-in-law Larry Wilson (Elena), Orlando, FL, Gordon Wilson(Misty) of Alexander City, AL, Matt Wilson (Shelly) of Charlotte, NC; sisters-in-law, Linda Hendricks (Jesse) of Spanish Fort, AL and Jenny Banks (Brad) of Fairhope, AL; uncles, Arthur “Sonny” Woodfin (Jackie) of Selma, AL and James Woodfin (Frances) of Uniontown, AL; nephews, David Pearce, Jr. of Browns, Will Pearce (Beth) , of Selma; and a host of other nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.
Pallbearers will be David Pearce, Jr., Will Pearce, Logan Banks, James Mooney, Lee Wilson, Matt Wilson and Jason Hendricks.
Visitation will be at Safford Baptist Church at 10:00 am Wednesday, August 8 followed by the service at 11:00 am. With Rev. Scott Bullard officiating and Lawrence Brown-Service Funeral Home directing, Burial will be at Bell Church Cemetery in Browns.
