VALLEY GRANDE — Last week the ALA-TOM RC&D gave out seven giant checks to various organizations in the area.
These checks provided organizations the funding for projects aimed at improving the development of resources both human and natural.
Earlier this month, the ALA-TOM RC&D gave a $25,000 grant to the City of Valley Grande.
According to ALA-TOM, these funds, along with public funds from the city, were used to construct a sports complex.
The complex consists of two minor league and one major league ball field with adjacent parking for use by the parent organization and the residents.
According to Valley Grande officials, on opening day, the sports complex experienced an overflow crowd of approximately 250 parents, grandparents and friends to watch the little league ball games.
Registration consisted of 104 participants — with tee ball receiving the largest response. As for now, volunteers in the city said they are going to maintain the complex.
