In recognition of her exemplary community service, Manera S. Searcy, consultant for Doncaster clothing, was selected as one of six recipients of the Tanner Companies 2011 Partners in Caring Awards this week.
Manera, a volunteer for Selma and Blackbelt Region Abuse fundraisers, supports the organization through her role in the Selma Rotary Club, which contributes to SABRA yearly.
For being named one of six national winners for the award, Manera received a $5,000 donation from the Tanner Foundation payable to SABRA, which she presented to executive director Nancy Travis last week.
Last year, the agency, known as a leading establishment for family violence prevention, education and victim’s services in Dallas, Wilcox and Perry counties, received 734 crisis calls on its 24-hour hotline, provided shelter for 89 women and children, provided court advocacy for 756 services and presented 1,024 session to 224 students for primary prevention education and sexual violence, according to a press release.
Founded to recognize individuals who are making a positive impact in the lives of women, children and families in their local communities, the Partners in Caring Award takes special note of those charities that specifically better the lives of women, children and families.
