Frances M. Lanier transitioned from her earthly life on April 27, 2012 at age 95. She ended what can be called a remarkable life in Monroe, Ga. with her niece, Jerrie Whitfield, and others who loved her by her side. She resided in Selma for many years and was known for her ability as an artist. She was also very proud to have been one of the first female officers in the Marine Corps during WWII. Their will be a memorial at St. James episcopal church, 210 Lauderdale St. on May 19th at 2:00pm.
