Joseph “Joe” Smith Lambert, a resident of Prattville, AL, passed away Wednesday May 2, 2012. Joe was born August 30, 1938 in Darlington, AL to James Ernest and Hazie S. Lambert. He attended school in Camden, AL and graduated from Baylor School in Chattanooga, TN where he excelled in football. He graduated from Auburn University with a B.S. Degree in Animal Science. He then worked on the family farm for 12 plus years. Joe was a pioneer home builder in Prattville, AL and Autauga County, building over 700 residential homes there.
In 1997 he, along with his wife, Meg Stringer Lambert, was inducted into the Greater Montgomery Home Builders Association. He was preceded in death by his wife; a son, Robert Lambert; and a brother, James Ernest Lambert, Jr. He is survived by his son, Joe Smith Lambert, Jr., and wife Mary Lou of Orange City, FL; Rob Carson Buchner and wife Kristen of Prattville, AL; and Bryant Buchner and wife Tina of Tallahassee, FL; grandsons Will, Carson, Jeb, and David Buchner of Tallahassee; Jonathan and Garrett Buchner of Prattville; Joe “Jake” Lambert III; granddaughters Elizabeth and Sarah Kate Lambert of Orange City; a brother Frank S. Lambert of Camden, AL, and sisters Marguerite L. Perry, Acworth, GA and Agnes L. Albritton, Cartersville,
GA. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 5th at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church in Dallas County. Graveside services will follow the visitation at 11:00 with Rev. Dave Thomas and Pastor Roger Parks officiating. Pallbearers will be Joe’s grandsons.
