Selma City School board made the right decision

Many will say we fail to celebrate the good decisions by our elected boards and officials when those decisions are made. We guess they have a good point.
But recently, the Selma City School Board made the right decision when reaching on a decision on what names to list on the plaque that will adorn the new Selma High School.
It seems like a little thing, but everyone knows in Selma, little things have a way of growing larger than they ever should.
The decision — reached during the school board’s April meeting — will list those agencies responsible for the school’s construction and the names of the elected officials in office at the time the school is opened.
Omitted from the plaque will be any appointed or other staff members — such as superintendent.
With the unsettled nature of that leadership position and the murky future about who will assume leadership in August, this deicison was the logical decision and one the board should be applauded for.
