The Meadowview Christian School Lady Trojans controlled the game, as they defeated the Ellwood Christian Academy Lady Eagles 16-1 at home on Tuesday.

Bryan McIntyre, head softball coach of Meadowview (4-9), said his team capitalized off of its opponent’s mistakes.

“We were patient with their pitching and we hit the ball and took advantage of the opportunities they gave us. They struggled pitching a little bit today,” McIntyre said. “Our pitcher settling down and throwing strikes helped us.”

McIntyre said Maggie Tipton and Jenni Redd were among those who hit the ball well for the Trojans.

Ken Watts, head softball coach of Ellwood (0-5), said Ellwood is young, and mistakes hurt them.

“We’ve got a young team — we’ve got one senior — and simple mistakes, routine outs is what’s killing us,” Watts said. “They’re (Ellwood players) hitting the ball, they just have to capitalize on mistakes. We had the bases loaded three times and didn’t take advantage of it. I expect them to get better. They’re young, but I think they’ll come around.”

Kenyata Watts had two hits, while YaKira Mitchell scored the Eagles only run as a pinch runner.
