A Selma woman, asleep in her bed, was shot and killed early Friday morning when multiple shooters opened fire on the Marie Foster Street home she and members of her family were in.

According to Selma Chief of Police William T. Riley, 30-year-old Bridgett Woods was killed when a bullet entered her bedroom and struck her in the abdomen. She was later pronounced dead at the scene by the coroner.

“The investigation is still in its preliminary stages, but we do know the shots came from outside of the home and that the victim was not the target of those who shot into the home,” Riley said.

Although Riley refused to give details, he and investigators are confident the shooting stemmed from a fight at Club Entourage, located at 1212 Alabama Ave.

“At this point, we believe the shots were intended for someone who lived or had lived at the home,” Riley said. “Those in the home at the time of the shooting were not the targets and no one else was injured.”

As for the fight at Entourage, which happed shortly before 2:30 a.m., Riley said witnesses said two groups of men were involved.

Once there, they took two individuals in custody, but neither of those individuals are believed to have been the ones involved in the fatal shooting.

“One individual was charged with disorderly conduct and the other was charged with failure to obey police,” Riley said.
