When visiting Vaughan Regional Medical Center, you may have noticed her wearing an ear microphone headset while managing the hospital’s switchboard, but most recently she’s lending a helping hand away from the window.

Since November, hospital volunteer Alice Jones has been volunteering every Thursday afternoon inside the gift shop.

“I work at the switchboard during the day and I have to point to where things are,” Jones said. “Now I get to take them (visitors) to where they need to go.”

From stacking shelves to helping others or running errands to various departments, Jones said helping people is what she likes most about her job.

Jones is respected by her colleagues.

“She’s a jack of all trades,” said fellow volunteer Doris Usrey, who also volunteers every Thursday.
