Taylor takes over at Morgan

Taylor said it’s going to be a tall task to replace former head coach Brian King, who brought Taylor in as a part of his coaching staff three years ago.

“It’s a big challenge,” Taylor said. “Brian brought me in when he arrived, and he set the bar here even higher. To maintain that and try to excel upon it is going to be a huge undertaking. He’s done a great job. I’m just hoping I can continue upon that growth and improvement we’ve had athletically.”

Taylor will have a young team and has to replace seniors that had five AISA All-Stars among them including Division-I signee Hunter Rogers.

Taylor said it’s going to take hard work and dedication to continue the success.

“The young players are going to have to step up,” Taylor said. “They’ve had two years in the offensive philosophy we’re doing and that’s not going to change. We’re going to continue that. We’re going to have to tweak the defense personnel wise.

“Hunter’s (Rogers) going off to Middle Tennessee, Parker Hughes, MaCain Levins, Brody Keel and all those guys are going to be tough to replace. But we’ve got some good things going on with the weight program Brian started … they’re going to have to work hard and continue with the work ethic. That’s the name of the game.”
