Those customers who frequent the Idle Inn Chevron at the corner of  J.L. Chestnut Boulevard and Broad Street will have to look elsewhere after the Selma Police busted the store for synthetic marijuana distribution on Wednesday.

Selma Police made two arrests after a sting operation resulted in search warrants for synthetic marijuana.

“We had a search warrant to go in the business to look for what we call synthetic marijuana,” said Selma Chief of Police William T. Riley. “We did an undercover operation here a while back and from that undercover operation someone was able to go in and purchase some synthetic marijuana from the business.”

Police arrested the store’s owner Lutfur Rahman and store employee Shahariar Hasan Shihab, and charged Rahman with unlawful possession of a controlled substance and unlawful distribution of a controlled substance, while Shihab was charged with unlawful distribution of a controlled substance.

Riley said the decision was made to execute the search on Wednesday, as a police Special Response Team (SWAT) was active in the process.
