Lend a hand to tornado victims

Our neighbors to the north in Maplesville are still feeling the aftershock of the tornadoes that struck earlier in the week.
Some lost their homes and all of their possessions. Some still have no place to go. Some don’t know what the future will hold for them.
One thing is certain — everyone impacted by these storms needs your help.
As of Friday, many residents of Maplesville were regaining electricity, which will help tremendously. But that is only part of the battle.
There are so many more who could take months, maybe years to recover from the storms.
Those who did not have homeowner’s or renter’s insurance have no way to pay for the things they lost when the tornado swept through.
This is where our Dallas County stars can shine the brightest. If you would like to help, get in touch with a reputable organization in Chilton County like the Red Cross, church groups, or civic groups. See what you can do to help.
Odds are, each of these groups will have a list of items and services that are needed. These items can stack up quickly if enough people chip in.
If you can’t make a donation but would still like to help, there are plenty of cleanup efforts going on as well. If you can’t do either, kind words and kind thoughts can be just as effective. Though Maplesville is in Chilton County, they are still our neighbors. When our neighbors are suffering, it’s important to step up and help. They would certainly do the same for us.
