The Selma Art Guild will honor nationally known and locally recognized painter Jack Reed during a reception Sunday, Jan. 29 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. inside the guild.

Reed, who is best known for his landscapes and seascapes, will also celebrate his 90th birthday with family members, guests and friends during the event.

Guild president Sally Jordan said this event is a chance for the public to get to know the man behind the artwork.

“I think he’s well known and a lot of people have his artwork in their homes,” Jordan said. “A lot of civic organizations, commercial banks, have his art work. He has been very good about volunteering … he’s been very active.”

Jordan said there is no other artist quite like Reed, and she invites the community to “meet and greet” Reed and his wife, Audrey.
