Johnny Lee Gilmore, 65, resident of Selma, passed away January 19, 2012 at Baptist Hospital  South, Montgomery, AL. Services will be held Saturday, January 28, 2012, 1:00 p.m. at Tabernacle of Praise officiated by Rev. Lee A. Green, Jr. Burial will follow in Dock Henry Cemetery directed by Lewis Brothers Funeral Home.

He was preceded in death by parents, Minnie and Charlie Gilmore; brother,  Charlie Gilmore.

Survivors include spouse Essie Gilmore; two sons, Jimmy Simmons and Johnny Gilmore, Jr.; one daughter, Andrea Curtis; brother, Henry Jackson. Pallbearers will be the Masonic Lodge. Other relatives include a host of sisters-in-laws, brothers-in-laws, nieces, and nephews.

Thomas Alfred Sherrer Sr.

Thomas Alfred Sherrer Sr., age 82, of Selma, passed away Tuesday, January 24, 2012. He is survived by his wife, Virginia West Sherrer, son, Thomas A. Sherrer Jr. and wife Beth, of Dothan, AL, brother, James C. Smith Jr., sister, Bette Upson, grandchildren, Thomas Sherrer III and wife Kristy, and Will Sherrer, special cousins, Jeannette Hardin, Billy Faile, Claude Sherrer, Tom Sherrer, Carl McMilion, Mr. Sherrer is also survived by his special little friends, Dixie, Chloe, and Bella. Mr. Sherrer was a member of Memorial United Methodist Church of Selma. A memorial service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to Memorial United Methodist Church of Selma.

The family would like to give special thanks to caregivers, Willie Mae York, Mary Ann Stewart, Velette Palmer, Stella Capps, and Dr. Knight and Medical Associates.

Mr. Sherrer retired from Craig and Maxwell Air Force Base after 37 years of Service in Civil Engineering.
