Alabama Black Belt Adventures is accepting submissions as part of its Big Buck Photo Contest through Jan. 31. The winner of the giveaway wins a free shoulder mount from Irons Hilltop Taxidermy and Deer Processing, LLP.
The winners of the latest Alabama Black Belt Adventures giveaway were in the region this week to enjoy their prize — a pair of free hunts and lunch with Jackie Bushman, legendary founder of Buckmaster’s. Two Dallas County hunting lodges, Oyster Ridge Lodge and Davis Quail Hunts, donated the hunts in partnership with ALBBA to promote the entire Black Belt region to sportsmen across the country.
Brion Rathbun and his guest traveled all the way from Pennsylvania to enjoy a very successful two days of hunting in Alabama’s Black Belt region. They have already booked trips for next year to return for both deer and quail hunts.
“We’ve always said that if we can get outdoor enthusiasts to the Black Belt region that it will be the first of many trips to come. If you love to hunt or fish, you won’t find a better place anywhere in the country as far as we’re concerned,” says ALBBA Project Manager Pam Swanner. Deer season will close on Tuesday, Jan. 31 and the initiative’s focus will shift to the promotion of quail and turkey hunting.
Chances for harvesting an elusive gobbler in Alabama’s Black Belt are really good. A recent study conducted by Wild Turkey Report found that Alabama’s turkey population is estimated at 9.51 turkeys per square mile, placing Alabama at the top of the list in the nation.
“In anticipation of turkey season, we’re giving away a two day turkey hunting trip for someone and a guest, including lodging and meals donated by Cook’s Family Farm Trophy Hunts,” continued Swanner. “The winner will be drawn on March 26, 2012 so that the winner can take advantage of the trip before turkey season ends April 30th.”
