Betty Sue Stapp, 85, passed away on Saturday, December 17, 2011, after a brief illness.
She was born February 10, 1926 in Chilton County, Alabama to the late John Enoch and Lula Belle Little Traywick. Betty was one of eleven children, the youngest daughter and the last surviving sibling. She was working and caring for her parents in Clanton when she met “Bill” Fretwell. They married on January 18, 1948, and over the next 43 years lived the military life, raised three children, and retired to Selma in 1983. Following Bill’s death, Betty worked at Craig Parade and attended Riverview Presbyterian Church. There she met and later married Rev. John Stapp. From 1994 until John’s death in 2001, they enjoyed traveling and visiting with friends and family.
Betty was a member of Harper Chapel Presbyterian Church, where she could be found Sunday mornings, enjoying Brother Wood’s homemade biscuits. She loved playing dominoes on Fridays with her niece and “buddy” Sherry, and the church family at Fairview Baptist. Betty Sue loved pretty things. She loved her family and she loved University of Alabama football.

Fretwell (Amanda); step-son, Barry Stapp (Janice); step-daughter, Barbara Blanks; granddaughters Caroline, Esther, Joanna, and Abigail; step-grandson, Joey and eleven great-grandchildren.
