Honor Christ by making others happy

On the morning of Dec. 1, a wife awakened and said to her husband,” I just had a dream that you bought me a new gold necklace. What do you think it means?” “I don’t know, but Christmas is coming soon,” he replied. A few nights later the wife said, “This time, I dreamed you gave me a pearl necklace. What do you think it means?” “You’ll know Christmas,” he replied. On Christmas Eve morning she said, “This time I dreamed that you brought me a diamond necklace. What do you think it means?” “Honey, be patient. You’ll know tomorrow morning,” he said. Finally Christmas morning had arrived. The wife jumped out of bed and ran to the tree expecting to find her gold, pearl, or diamond necklace. She frantically looked for a small box with her name on it, but she couldn’t find one. Do you know what she got that year?
I’m sure that she will never forget that Christmas. She received a book entitled Interpreting Dreams. So, I’d like to ask you, what gift are you waiting for this Christmas? What are you longing for? What are you expecting to receive?
Many of us are stressed and concerned about choosing just the right Christmas gift to give to the special people in our lives. Every Christmas I go through deep thought about gifts. This past week as I pondered, I thought about what kind of gift would be considered remarkable, beyond description? Many gifts that will be unwrapped this year will get one of the following responses from the recipients: “It’s beautiful,” “I can’t believe it,” “I’ve wanted this my entire life,” or “I don’t know how you knew.”
Many people will get the gifts of their dreams this Christmas but will overlook the gift that makes their dreams possible. Many have tried but have been unable to accurately describe Him. For in Him all things exist. When God looked at the world he knew that our greatest need was not a car, fine jewelry, or any other expensive gift. Our greatest need was for a savior. If there is no gift under the tree for you this season, please remember that Christmas is really all about celebrating the birth of Christ.
We are to bring gifts to him. So, during this time of the year one way to honor Christ is by making happen for others what we long to happen for ourselves.
