Today, the board of directors and Parent Teacher’s Organization are hosting a fundraiser for McRae-Gaines Learning Center from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at the school, located at 2601 Marie Foster St. in Selma.
Mia Hamm, Michael Johnson, Jai Miller and Ben Obamanu have all donated autographed memorabilia that will be available as part of the Selma StarPower fundraiser at the silent auction.
The mission of McRae-Gaines Learning Center is to give students the opportunity to benefit from receiving an excellent education “from the least to the greatest.”
All proceeds from the Selma StarPower Campaign and the silent auction will benefit the center, a 501©(3) charitable organization that has provided a foundation for academic and life achievement for the children of Selma since 1978.
The day will begin at McRae Gaines at 8 a.m. with a car wash staffed by members of the Omega Psi Phi Fraternity.
At 11:30 a.m., the school will conduct an open house along with the silent auction and chicken plates and desserts provided by the PTO.
The goal is to raise $75,000.
