Philip M. “Pop” King, Jr.

Philip M. “Pop” King, Jr. was born to the late Philip and Mary Lula King on November 17, 1940 in Selma, Alabama. He confessed Christ at an early age, and became a devoted member of Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church Selma, AL. His love for his church was often expressed by him through service and conversation. As he was a member of the Knights of Columbus and a Master Mason.
He attended Selma City Schools and graduated from R. B. Hudson High School in 1960. He then joined the United States Army where he served for seven years.
Philip was preceded in death by two sisters: Mary Artelia King and Mary Elizabeth King-Moore; and four brothers, James White, John King, William “Bill” King, and Edmond Oscar Lee King.
He leaves to cherish his memories: five sons; Philip King, III, Francis King, John (Sandra) King, Edward King, and Ryan Reese. One sister, Mary Alice King-Williams, one sister-in-law, Ruverta White, twelve grandchildren , and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Funeral services will be held at Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church on Tuesday, October 18, 2011 at 1:00 p.m. Final arrangements entrusted to Miller Funeral Service of Selma.
