With the postseason fast approaching, the Morgan Academy Senators will travel to Hope Hull, looking to improve some hopes of their own.

The Senators (3-3, 2-2) will hit the road to face the Hooper Academy Colts (5-2, 2-1) Friday at 7 p.m. in a crucial region showdown.

Morgan Academy head football coach Brian King said last week’s 43-14 win over East Memorial Christian Academy was a good way to start a stretch of three must-win games for the Senators.

“That was a great start for the next three games we’re playing … all three, we’ve got to win to get to the playoffs,” King said. “Not only do we have to win this game, this game will also decide whether we’ll be third or fourth if we make the playoffs. This is a huge battle for both teams.”

King said the Senators have been working on the fundamentals among other things to prepare for the Colts.

The Colts will present a familiar challenge for the Senators, as they’ll bring another spread offense to the field against Morgan Academy.

“We face another spread team, so we’re seeing kind of the same stuff week in and week out which makes it more familiar,” King said. “We’ve got to make sure the quarterback, who’s another mobile quarterback, stays inside the pocket and force him to use his arm more than his legs. We feel like, if we can get them to do that, it’ll take them out of their comfort zone and we’ll have a little bit better chance.”

King said the turnover battle would once again be a big factor Friday night.
