The Selma Fire Department confirms the large fire on Kings Bend Road is a controlled burn managed by Buchanan Timber.

According to a department official, the department has received a “lot of calls about it” but calmed any worries, again confirming that it was a controlled burn.

The large fire had produced a large cloud of smoke that had even attracted the interest of Lion’s Club officials running the Central Alabama Fair on Dallas Avenue.
