The Bears (3-2, 1-2) will be at home when they face the Sunshine High School Tigers (1-4, 1-2) Friday at 7 p.m. in an important region contest.

The Bears are coming off a 37-7 win against Southside High School in which they scored 30 points in the second half.

The Tigers will enter Friday’s game on a three-game losing streak. The Tigers are giving up an average of 36 points-per-game and have been shutout four of their five games with their only win coming in week two against Holy Spirit.

The Bears will hope they can score some big points of their own against Sunshine with their Wing-T attack commanded by quarterback Maurice Crumpton and running backs Rodney Ellis, Terrell Velasquez, Demarquis Lumpkin and Charles Johnson.

Friday’s game will mark the third home game in a four-game home stretch for the Bears.

Friday’s game will also kick off the second half of the season for the Bears and a crucial four-game stretch of games against region opponents that will go a long way toward deciding whether the Bears will make a return trip to the Class 1A state playoffs.
