Dallas County comes up short

GREENSBORO — The Dallas County High School Hornets’ struggles continued Friday night in a 57-10 loss to Greensboro High School.
The Hornets got behind early and were never able to recover. Greensboro scored early and often as they built a 21-0 first-quarter lead.
The Pirates continued to pour it on in the second quarter. By the half, the Hornets trailed 42-2.
The Pirates found the endzone a few more times in the third quarter to cap their scoring and build a 57-2 lead heading into the final quarter.
In the fourth quarter, the Hornets finally got their offense rolling and found the endzone themselves to close the gap to 57-10.
Greensboro rolled up 87 yards on the ground and 179 through the air, including five touchdown passes.
They also had an 85-yard punt return for a touchdown and an interception return for a touchdown.
The Hornets had 91 yards rushing and 40 yards passing.
Ethan Fancher led the team with 10 tackles.
Shadrick Turner also turned in a stronng performance with three tackles, two for a safety, and a blocked kick.
The Hornets return home next week when they host Greene County.
Dallas County dropped to 0-5 on the season.
