Mr. Barry Jackson Purdie, 35, resident of Selma, passed away Monday, August 22, 2011 in Grady Memorial Hospital, Atlanta, GA. Services will be held Saturday, August 27, 2011, 11:00 a.m. at New Shady Grove M.P. Church, Sardis, AL, officiated by Rev. JD Fails. Burial will follow Zion #1 M.P. Cemetery directed by Walker Mortuary.

He was preceded in death  by his mother, Mary Jackson (James) Moore. Barry was a 1994 Southside High School graduate and later attended and graduated  from Morehouse College, Atlanta, on May 18, 1999 with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Business Administration.

He leaves behind a motherly Aunt, Katie (John) Rankin, father Barry Q. Purdie Sr., and James Moore; four sisters, Valencia L. Purdie, Andrea S. (Harold) Jackson-Bates, Carla (Jarvis) Bates, and Latigre K. Purdie; five brothers, Ronnie (Joyce) Martin, Michael (Rononica) Martin, Javaris B. Purdie, Brian Rankin, and Damarius R. Purdie.
