Feature will provide a local voice

Today marks the start of a new feature in the Sunday Times-Journal entitled Coffee Talk.

This community-columnist series will feature residents from many of the areas the Times-Journal covers, detailing events in and around their community that often times do not find their way onto the pages of the newspaper.

As this feature grows, you will notice more and more areas coming on board, and it is my goal, to ensure we find the time and the space to accommodate each area that wants to participate.

Today, we start with just one — but they often say the hardest part on any journey is the first step.

Larry P. Stover is the pastor of Praise Park Ministries Church of the Nazarene in Valley Grande. He has been a pastor for 33 years and has been a resident of Valley Grande for the past eight years. He and his wife, Janet, have been married for 28 years and they have two children, Paula and Joshua, as well as two grandchildren, Rebekah and Nathan.

Stover will provide weekly columns of events and happenings in Valley Grande and his column inside today’s edition provides contact information for those wanting to reach out to him and provide him information.

Next week you will see a new column focusing on Orrville and another likely to start featuring Old Town.

In the coming weeks, we hope to have columns from Sardis, Tyler, Marion Junction and many others.

If you know of someone who might be interested in joining the Times-Journal Coffee Talk team, please email me at tim.reeves@selmatimesjournal .com or call me directly at (334) 410-1730.

It is my belief this weekly feature is crucial to the Times-Journal’s mission of being a community newspaper and one that I am truly excited to see begin.

I want to again thank Pastor Stover for representing Valley Grande and I look forward to announcing and welcoming others in the coming weeks.
