After a line of severe thunderstorms knocked out cable, Internet and power for hundreds of Selma and Dallas County residents Monday afternoon, by 6:30 p.m. officials said residents’ power was restored.

More than 200 residents in north Selma, near Highland Avenue, were without power, according to a representative from Alabama Power.

Jan Ellis, with Alabama Power, said lightning and wind caused power outages across the county.

“People were assigned to the trouble and working,” Ellis said. “We were back on around 6:15 p.m.”

A statement from Charter Communications said the problem was to be resolved within a couple of hours.

“We’re aware of outages affecting cable, Internet and phones services … techs are working to resolve the issue,” the recorded statement on the customer support number said.

According to information from the Dallas County Emergency Management Agency director Rhonda Abbott, it appeared Pioneer Electric customers were not affected by Monday’s storms.
