Gordon Oliver Embry

Gordon Oliver Embry, 78, of Glendale, died Monday, July 4, 2011 at his residence. He was a native of Russellville, an Air Force veteran and a member of Tunnell Hill Baptist Church.  He was a 50 year member of the masonic lodge in Selma AL, served 21 years in the Air Force and retired from Dow Corning after twenty years.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Omar and Stella Hanley Embry.

He is survived by his wife, Margaret J. Wheeler Embry, one son, Curtis R. Embry of Glendale, three daughters, Sherry Lanham (Tony) of Danville, Amanda Clater (Nathan) of Upton and Charlotte Cecil (Joseph) of Hopkinsville, two brothers, Bobby Embry of Magnolia and Shelby Embry of Elizabethtown, two sisters, Betty McQuarrie of New York and Helen Barnes McClurg of Elizabethtown, three grandchildren, Cheryl Thurman, Ellisha Whalin and Cody Cecil and seven great grandchildren.

The funeral will be at 4 p.m. Wednesday at Brown Funeral Home with Pastor Sam Hinkson officiating.  Burial will be in Glendale Christian Cemetery.

Visitation is 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and after 12 noon Wednesday at the funeral home.
