James C. “Jim” Roden

James C.  “Jim” Roden, age 74, of Carrollton, died March 30, 2011, at Pickens County Medical Center. Memorial services will be 11 a.m., Saturday at Carrollton Baptist Church with Bro. Tommy Winders officiating and Heritage Chapel Funeral Home and Cremations a Dignity Memorial Provider directing. Visitation will be tonight from 6 to 8 p.m. at Carrollton Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his son, James C. :Jimmy” Roden, Jr. of Selma; his sister, Lora Wood of Tampa, Fla; and his first wife, Ann Roden of Selma.

Survivors include his wife, Martha Jean Roden of Carrollton; his daughters, Barbara Sossomon (Dick) of  Raleigh, N.C. and Cindi Sanders Dunaway of Valley Grande; his son, James Doyal McKey of Selma; many grandchildren and one great grandchild.

Mr. Roden  retired from the U.S. Air Force after 24 years at Maxwell Air Force Base in Montgomery. He retired from the Alabama Department of Transportation after 15 years in Selma. He was a deacon of Westwood Baptist Church in Selma and Carrollton Baptist Church in Carrollton.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital or the cancer society of one’s choice.
