The search continues for suspects in the first murder case for the Dallas County Sheriffs Department since 2007.
The shooting took place in the 700 block of Circle Drive near Craig Field on the evening of Dec. 28, 2010.
After 49-year-old Brenda Craig was shot in one of her feet and her rear-end with what officials believed to be a high-powered rifle, she was sent to Baptist South Hospital in Montgomery, where she died from complications from her wounds.
Since then investigators have been interviewing and gathering information, trying to find an answer.
“The search is still on going,” investigator Sgt. John Hatfield said. “We haven’t given up and continue to seek out information.”
While the department had help early on in the investigation, Hatfield said the department has struggled to find people in the area to interview who may have information to the murder as the investigation has gone on.
“A lot of the community just don’t want to be involved,” Hatfield said. “We are talking to as many people as possible right now and we have interviewed a lot of people so far, but we always need more people coming forward.”
The department encourages anyone with information to come forward to help find Craig’s killer.
“Anyone who would want to talk to us, we would love to talk to them,” Hatfield said. “We always want to encourage people to call in to us. I’m sitting in my office, they can call anytime they get ready.”
Hatfield said anyone with information can anonymously contact the crime stoppers hotline at (866) 662-7463.
