Luverta E. York, 60, a resident of Woodbridge, VA died in Georgetown Hospital, Washington, DC, on March 10, 2011.

She is the daughter of the late Roberta and Robert Emanuel, Sr., and the granddaughter of the late Rev. Sam Sanders.

Survivors include husband, William York, II; one son, William York, III (Ashley); one daughter, Jamila Y. (Richard) Tolbert; five brothers, Finis (Julia) Harris, Charlie (Mary) Sanders of Selma, AL, Samuel Harris, Rev. Robert (Luverne) Emanuel, II, George (Mari) Emanuel of Mobile; three sisters, Ruth (Eddie) Grady, Virginia, Cartia (Larry) Moseley, Mobile, AL and Joann Deas, Montgomery, AL; five grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.
